Drake University is pleased to announce a faculty position in our interdisciplinary Law, Politics, and Society Program. This position will focus on social justice, leadership, and civic engagement. We seek an excellent teacher and active scholar to offer courses contributing to the program in ways that complement the university-wide mission of educating ethical and self-reflective global citizens and effective leaders. Area of focus and methods are open – but we hope to attract legal studies scholars working on issues of cause lawyering, public interest litigation, social movement activism, democratic participation, and leadership from core disciplinary perspectives as diverse as sociology, journalism, business, political science, and social work. Drake University values interdisciplinary research and teaching; we seek candidates committed to innovative pedagogy, who use experiential, collaborative, and service learning techniques to facilitate student learning, and contribute to a vibrant community both on- and off-campus. Position is 3/3 load, all undergraduate, including both core and elective LPS-designated courses. Ph.D. in relevant area highly preferred (JDs, advanced ABDs, and highest appropriate degree for particular fields considered). Review of applications to begin immediately and continue until position is filled. Send letter of application, cv, three letters of support, and evidence of teaching effectiveness to Renee Cramer (renee.cramer@drake.edu), Director, Law, Politics & Society, Medbury Hall, Drake University, Des Moines, IA 50311. Drake is an equal opportunity employer.
